Biography

Early Life

Raki was a young boy whose family is murdered by a Yoma, which then takes the form of his older brother, Zaki, as a disguise. This Yoma is slain by Clare, but Raki is suspected of being a Yoma as well, and exiled from his village. (In the manga, it is not clear if he is actually exiled or voluntarily searching for Clare).

Traveling with Clare

Clare only offered to take him with her until he finds a village he wishes to live in, but she gets attached to him. During this time Raki also cares very deeply for Clare, and protects her without hesitation from anyone ; even another Claymore. Officially, Raki was a 'Cook' for Clare. He goes with Clare to the holy city of Rabona disguised as Clare's little brother so she could do her job without being suspicious. At Rabona Raki carried a statue that had within it her Claymore. While Clare search for the human id of the Yoma, Raki was waiting at the baptismal room were the true Yoma actually was. He is saved by Clare, Galk and Sid. In the battle Raki trows to Clare hers Claymore that she used to defeat the Yoma. When they were leaving the city Galk gave him a holy sword which he carries for now on.

Fight with Ophelia

During a hunt for an Awakened Being, Raki was seperated from Clare, against his will. The Organization's #4, Ophelia proposed a game: While Clare reattatched her legs (which Ophelia had severed a while earlier), She would fight Raki, increasing her skill level little by little, until she had cut him to shreds. Clare managed to use the appearance of the Awakened Being to her advantage and escaped with Raki while Ophelia fought. There, Clare seperated with Raki in hopes that he would have a chance at survival while she lured Ophelia away. Meanwhile, Ophelia disposed of the Awakened Being, with ease, and immediately attempted tracking Clare and Raki.

In the North

Soon after Raki is separated from Clare during her fight with Ophelia, he is captured by slave traders and sent to the North. He escapes the slave traders and arives under the care of Isley and Priscilla, although he is not aware of their true identities as Awakened Beings. Priscilla was 'saved' by Raki from a large number of falling stones (and, in the anime Priscilla likes his smell because Raki came from the south). Isley says that Raki should "keep her (Priscilla) company for a while". Raki then begins to study swordsmanship under Isley.

Raki25427

Raki reappears after the seven year time skip, travelling with a regressed, child-like Priscilla. Raki is shown wearing Claymore-like Armour and wielding a massive broadsword. In addition to maturing physically, his skills and confidence have increased dramatically as he easily defeats a Yoma and displays remarkable reflexes and speed. It is unknown how powerful he is in relation to Claymores or Awakened Beings, though he is shown wielding a sword somewhat larger than the ones wielded by the Claymores one handed and easily deflected the youma's attack using his forearm armor.

Raki's dialogue reveals that he now knows Priscilla's true nature. Raki also mentions that Priscilla's small frame is probably due to the fact that she has not eaten any human flesh for a few years, although she is probably "at her limit". He says that, should she submit to her hunger, he will attempt to stop her but acknowledges that he will probably fail and be eaten. It is unknown if Raki still has ties to Isley after the time skip.

Anime Difference

Following Raki's meeting with Priscilla and Isley, things are drastically changed in the anime adaptation. Raki becomes aware that Priscilla is an Awakened Being and a former Claymore prior to the 'War in the North'. He then leaves Priscilla and Isley in order to meet up with Clare. He witnesses the end of her fight against Rigardo and follows after her when she pursues Priscilla.

Raki stops Clare from finishing off Priscilla, when the Claymores are parting ways after Pieta Clare offers to let Raki continue their journey together which he agrees to and they are seen heading off.

Relationships

Clare

Clare and Raki share an extremely strong bond to the point that even being separated for seven years, they continued to search for each other never giving up hope. Whiles its not certain if their bond is romantic (Despite a kiss between them, and Clare saying Raki is a "important person" to her), it is certainly possible in the future.

Priscilla

Raki and Priscilla share a similar bond to Raki and Clare (Raki saying his taking Priscilla along so he can be more like Clare) and despite knowing Priscilla is an awakened being who is suppressing her desire to eat human guts (becoming younger due to it) he continues to travel with her letting her help him with finding Clare.

Priscilla likes the smell of Raki (Isley theorizing its the smell of the south), though even when in the south she still clings to Raki, even defending him from the current generations #6, Renee when she lays her hands on Raki.

Isley

Isley is Raki's teacher and mentor, due to Isley being a former number #1 his skill with the sword is very impressive (despite being nearly a 100 year old Awakened Being) and tells Raki he will teach everything he can to Raki, though warning him becoming strong does mean he risks losing his strength or dying for it. Isley says Raki reminds him of himself when he was younger.
