Diana is Claymore No. 44 of Clare's generation.

Plot[]

She was part of Jean's party in the Northern Campaign along with Eliza (#17), Emelia (#27) and Natalie (#37). She was the lowest ranked Claymore to be killed in the campaign.

Like the rest of Jean's team Diana is defeated by the flying Awakened Being, which it blamed on Jean's leadership skills. Diana and the rest of Jean's team were rescued by the arrival of Veronica's team. Veronica, Jean, Helen, and Cynthia managed to kill the Awakened Being.

Diana is seen attacking an Awakened Being with Natalie during the second battle. This distracted the being and allowed Jean to hit it with her "Drill Sword", killing it instantly. Diana was later killed by another Awakened Being under Isley's command. None of Jean's team survived the battle.

Appearance[]

Diana has short, bowl cut hair that curves in towards her face and has the standard silver claymore eyes.

Behind the Scenes[]

The VIZ Manga translation uses "Deana."

Etymology[]

"Diana" is one of two transliterations of the Japanese "Deanna" (ćƒ‡ć‚£ć‚¢ćƒŠ, pronounced "dee-an-nah"). " "Diana" itself is usually spelled "ćƒ€ć‚¤ć‚¢ćƒŠ."

"Diana" is derived from the Indo-European root-word for "divine." Diana is the Roman goddess of the moon, hunting and forests.

"Deanna" derives either from Middle English "dene" (valley), or "deen" (from Latin for "chief of ten"). Or from "Diana."
