The 15th chapter of Claymore by Norihiro Yagi, first published in the May 2001 issue of Shonen Jump.
Teresa and Clare near Rokut, the town that Teresa intends Clare to live in, much to Clare's unhappiness. That night, when Clare is asleep, Teresa leaves the campsite and confronts the bandit that was following them. The crazed man shoves Teresa to the ground and begins to rip off her clothes, saying that he will make her suffer for looking down on him. Teresa simply accepts this, saying she doesn't care, and wonders at how she is sworn to protect people like him. However, Clare appears and strikes the bandit from behind with a stick. In fury, he begins to beat her until Teresa scares him off with his own sword, saying that it's her choice if she wants to kill him or not. Once he has left, Clare bursts into tears and into speech, saying that Teresa's eyes have always showed so much pain, just like hers. It hits Teresa that Clare had been trying to comfort her back in the village - that they share equal suffering. Falling to her knees, she embraces the small girl and cries.
